    Gables Residential is an award winning, vertically integrated real estate company and privately held REIT. Gables specializes in development, construction, ownership, acquisition, financing and management of multifamily and mixed-use in major markets across the U.S. This summer internship geared towards undergraduates and future sustainability professionals provides the opportunity to gain hands on experience in working on sustainability projects; energy and water utility data review, managing data in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, sustainability reporting, research projects and assisting with the development of educational material. This position reports to the Director of Sustainability.

     

    Internship- Part time hours flexible based on school schedule

    Responsibilities

    Utility Data Analysis:

    • Energy and water utility data review –Inactive accounts, usage analysis, check spreadsheet – note savings information. 
    • Participate in the evaluation of Gables benchmarking and reporting program including the use of tools, ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager and Measurabl’s Dashboard. Assist in the development of excel based resources for sustainability reporting

    Asset Management:

    • Assist in the development of an Asset tracking tool with property information – collaborate with Asset management team members.
    • Collect asset meter inventory
    • Research projects and assisting with the development of educational material.

    General Sustainability

    • Assist with meeting planning and preparation for the Sustainability Advisory Council Kick-Off meeting.
    • Assist with kick-off of building reduction challenge
    • Home automation research
    • Sustainability Advisory Council Prep
    • Solar feasibility studies – research and information
    • High-performance building and finance connection

    Qualifications

    Education

    A high school education or equivalent is required. Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree. The position does require the ability to read and write English fluently, and the ability to
    accurately perform basic to intermediate mathematical functions.

     

    Skills

    Basic knowledge of statistics, advanced spreadsheet skills, writing and communications

     

    Software

    MS Excel intermediate to advanced, word, PowerPoint, ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager – a plus

     

    Licenses

    A valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance is
    required.
